Al Jazeera is using Teracue solutions at several locations. The latest installation is at the new "state of the art" UK Studio located in the prestigious skyscraper in London, "The Shard".
For signal ingest of more than 60 TV and radio channels DVB-to-IP Gateways from the DMM-Series are used. Al Jazeera studio signals are encoded using ENC-300-HDSDI and distributed to the IPTV network.
Using the existing IP infrastructure for signal distribution there is no need to use additional RF cabling and the disadvantages of the old technique. The DVB signals are converted to IP without touching video and audio so original quality is available everywhere.
To show the streams at displays, Amino STBs are used. Using the Element Manager software it is possible to control and monitor all STBs centralized. For PC users Xplayer software is used to decode the video streams.
To display more TV streams simultaneously at a single display, StreamView is used to create a mosaic. It is possible to decode and display several streams at the same time and to switch dedicated streams to full screen.
