Application
A recently renovated retirement home wanted to add an internal information channel to the newly implemented IPTV system. So far, this information channel was only visible on a big TV monitor, that was installed in the restaurant. The info channel was made on a PC, using a simple Power Point slideshow that ran in a continuous loop. However, a large group of residents was not able to come to the restaurant trouble-free anymore, due to limited mobility. The aim was to provide the information to every resident by showing the Power Point slideshow on each of their own TVs.

MC-TRANS

Netzwerk

Über WLAN können Streams aus dem Netzwerk auch für Mobile Geräte zur Verfügung gestellt werden.
Decoder
Decoder Empfangen Streams aus dem Netzwerk und decodieren sie in Echtzeit. Sie besitzen einen Ausgang mit einem gängigen HD-SDI, ASI, HDMI, VGA oder DVI-Anschluss.

Angeschlossenen Wiedergabegeräten, Monitoren und TV's werden die Streams aus dem Netzwerk in DVD/DVB-Qualität bereit gestellt.

Solution
By installing the software encoder MC-Screen on the Power Point PC, the info channel was added as a live stream to the IPTV system and every resident had access to it from his own TV, even those, who were not mobile anymore. The Power Point presentation simply became just another TV channel.
MC-Screen captures the content of a whole screen or selected window on the PC it is running on and generates a UDP Multicast stream that is perfectly understood by most IPTV systems.
Benefits
MC-Screen is a simple, easy to implement, affordable solution to integrate an internal information channel and make it available in the IPTV system and every TV or PC connected to it. This increased the reach of the information channel to a vulnerable group of residents.
In case the same channel should be used for other purposes, as well as i.e. streaming live performances from the restaurant to the IPTV system, the use of a hardware encoder like the ENC-400 would have been a better choice. Adding PTZ cameras with a preview monitor and some pre-set controls would turn the restaurant into a small Studio, providing a live in-house entertainment channel to the residents.
