A multinational company wants to provide its staff at the headquarters with live TV news and business channels alongside its corporate information channel. These TV channels should be accessible on PC for authorized persons only and on a dozen TV monitors across the headquarters campus. Currently only a few conference rooms in the main building have access to cableTV over Coax. As a modern IP network is available in every single room anywhere on the campus the company wants to utilize it for the distribution of TV signals as well. To save costs the TV signals will be acquired straight from the satellite and not from the cable provider anymore.

The available in-house IP network is the nucleus solution for the TV signal distribution. Several DVB to IP gateways of the DMM series will form the head end. These receive the satellite signals and convert them to IP. The company information channel is available on a digital signage player and is ingested as a multicast stream into the IP network through an ENC-300 H.264 streaming encoder. Using the multicast protocol a network overload is not possible, even in case all users would view the channels simultaneously. PC users will be able to watch the TV channels by using ICUE-PLAYER, a user friendly software player. An ordinary Set Top Box will do for TV monitors. Channel management and user access rights are maintained in ICUE server, which also holds recordings of the TV signals as well as corporate training video material.
By using IPTV, the company can now provide and manage TV channels to every desktop, conference room and public displays. The additional information channel and easy access to the corporate training video library enhances internal communication.
Using the available IP network instead of expanding the coax cabling saved cost and offers more flexibility for future expansion.
